The concept of the “mastermind” has invaded our business culture for the past several years. For those of you that do not know the term, “mastermind,” it came from the book by Napoleon Hill published in the 1940’s called “Think and Grow Rich.” A definite classic to read whether you are self employed, working in a career, and just working in a conventional job. It is chock full of “brain candy” to improve one’s self in all areas of personal success, especially attracting money.
The mastermind principle states: “one of most power ways to accomplish success and more in less time is to tap into a group of like minded people that you can share, in a give and take atmosphere, ideas and strategies for the betterment of yourself while enhancing and helping others likewise.” Many business articles have quoted that literally thousands of business leaders and and wildly successful people have utilized the mastermind group.
While working and being a workaholic, I must profess that I do have a small group of like minded people, who are successful at what they do and I have developed many new and workable ideas from sharing with them. Although I would not give all credit to my success from the mastermind groups, it certainly does help as a self employed person. When a self employed person mainly works as a “one man show,” it does help to keep contact with other like minded individuals.
Next time you are thinking about your next goal, whether personal or professional, think of masterminding with several other collegues. Who knows, maybe you will stumble upon your next million dollar idea!
Peace and Love,
Bruce

Napoleon Hill was, indeed, the originator and first articulator of the “Mastermind Group” or “Mastermind Alliance” concept. The very best explanation of it I have ever seen is found on pages 181-188 of Hill’s classic book “Think and Grow Rich!: The Original Version, Restored and Revised” (the ISBN is 1-59330-200-2). According to my much marked-up copy, there is also good information on pages 77, 78, 105-6, 150, 165-66, 186, 290, 294, 308, and 355. If you think I just about have the book memorized, you’re right. I’ve read it 25 or 30 times and have applied the Mastermind concept in my business and personal life. Every success I have enjoyed I owe directly or indirectly to this great book and the Mastermind principle it teaches. The book really belongs in everyone’s library.
Ross, very good. The first time I was introduced to that book was when I was a teenager and at that time I did not grasp even a fraction of what it all meant. But I have re-read the book several times myself and also have excerpt recordings on CD from it and more and more things make sense to me now. Thanks for the input!
If you like what you see in my blog, please pass it on to your friends and collegues.
